Tobacco Growers oppose alternatives

Trud_Daily.jpgAbout 200,000 Bulgarian tobacco growers are threatened to be left without means of livelihood. If the requirements of the World Health Organization for substituting tobacco growing with alternative production are approved. This information was stated during the Third International Forum of Oriental Tobacco Growers in Plovdivattended by representatives of the Balkan states and Omanand Kyrgyzstanand the agricultural minister Vasil Grudev.

Discussions were provoked by the suggestions of the World Health Organization that tobacco productions should be substituted with alternative productions and the appeal to the governments to terminate funding of the tobacco sector.
