Leaf Exports Down in Brazil 12.4% By Value In 2015

Brazil's leaf tobacco exports declined 12.4% year-year to US$ 2.2 billion in 2015 due to a weaker real, although volumes rose 8.6% y-y to 517,000 MT. The country's leaf exports peaked in 2007 to 700,000 MT, but a stronger real against the dollar encouraged leaf buyers to tap countries such as Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Mozambique (Valor Economico International 1/19).
