Brazil - Tobacco Price Negotiations End

es.jpg Spanish version of the document

This claim is supported by the weekly survey carried out by Afubra among growers that have already sold their crop.  Invoices issued by buyers show that they are paying an average of R$ 8.47/kg for Virginia flue-cured.  Compared with the price obtained for the previous crop of R$ 7.51, the current price represents a 12.8 per cent increase in real terms.

The Commission is suggesting growers to keep their tobacco in their properties and sell it only after ensuring that the buyer's grading matches their own grading.  Otherwise, growers are advised to seek a buyer that offers better prices.
